About
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

0,5 l screw cap bottle from a local bottle shop. More unclear yellow than golden in the glass. Nearly two finger foamy white head. Low apple smell. Taste starts strange, phenol, apple, some malt, honey and sweetness, some caramell. Less alcoholic. Didn´t fit really well but still drinkable.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 13.08.19, from Alko, 20180907) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, herbalness and grain. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, herbalness, grain, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was grassy and bitter. A rather hoppy pils with bit too much herbalness.

Bottled 500ml (screw top, Alko web, "Premium Pils")
Clear golden colour, small steady white head and some lace. Some straw and paper in the nose. Light-bodied. Active carbonation. Dry, a bit herbal bitterness, lingering bitterness in the aftertaste, light papery notes. A bit Northern German vibe in this otherwise ordinary pils.
