Description
It all started in 1842 when Franz Schnaitl decided not only to rebuild the inn, which had been destroyed in a fire, but also to found a brewery. 175 years later Matthias Schnaitl IV is managing director and is aware of the living tradition of his family history: “We - our family and our brewery - are firmly rooted in our region.
Purely Austrian barley malt, Mühlviertel aroma hops and crystal-clear water from our own deep well are brewed to the beers Original, Pils de luxe, Florian - Spezial, Festbock and the dark. Since beer needs enough time, it is given to him in the Schnaitl brewery: one week of main fermentation in the fermentation cellar and another five weeks in the storage cellar before it is gently filtered and bottled or vatted. The carefully selected ingredients from the region, tried-and-tested recipes and decades of experience in processing ensure that the beers have a fine, unobtrusive mildness. The motto here is "Quality instead of quantity".

Bottle from Meinl am Graben, Vienna. Clear, golden body, with medium, creamy, white head. Aroma is mainly of banana, but also citrus, grains, grass. Taste with the same aromas, like creamy banana juice, well hidden alcohol. Mouthfeel is full, creamy, with a medium carbonation and it finishes smooth, fruity and slightly grainy. Tasty! A really unique Heller Bock, with a pleasant banana aroma, quaffable and smooth.

Bottle. Clear golden body, wih big, frothy, white head. Aroma of grains, bread, grass, some honey like sweetness. Tastes of sweet malt, grains, bread, some herbs. Mouthfeel is pretty thin, low carbonation and it finishes light bitter, dry, with grain and herbs. Although not bad, nohing special, too less aromatic for my liking.

Clear pale yellow colour. There is a rough bitterness in the finish, but it is not unpleasant at all. A bit citric, but not bad.
