Description
It all started in 1842 when Franz Schnaitl decided not only to rebuild the inn, which had been destroyed in a fire, but also to found a brewery. 175 years later Matthias Schnaitl IV is managing director and is aware of the living tradition of his family history: “We - our family and our brewery - are firmly rooted in our region.

Purely Austrian barley malt, Mühlviertel aroma hops and crystal-clear water from our own deep well are brewed to the beers Original, Pils de luxe, Florian - Spezial, Festbock and the dark. Since beer needs enough time, it is given to him in the Schnaitl brewery: one week of main fermentation in the fermentation cellar and another five weeks in the storage cellar before it is gently filtered and bottled or vatted. The carefully selected ingredients from the region, tried-and-tested recipes and decades of experience in processing ensure that the beers have a fine, unobtrusive mildness. The motto here is "Quality instead of quantity".

Bottle from an Euro Spar, on our way from Salzburg to Passau. Color: Clear brown amber, beige head. Aroma: Caramel malt, strong caramel. Taste: Again strong caramel, malty, light hopbitterness. Buttery. Moderate sweet. Medium to just below medium body, just below average carbonation. Too much caramel and butter for me personally.

330ml bottle. Slightly milky, orange, dark golden colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, wheaty, grainy and fruity malty aroma with a slight muesli touch, hints of cereals and yellow stone fruit, some orchard fruit, pear, apple and the like, minimally grassy, hoppy overtones. Taste is wheaty and sweet-ish, fruity malty, mildly bitter and minimally grassy-spicy hoppy, hints of cereals and yellow stone fruit, orchard fruit. Slightly creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Sweet-ish malty with nice fruity touch, no starchy interference - not bad.
