Description
It all started in 1842 when Franz Schnaitl decided not only to rebuild the inn, which had been destroyed in a fire, but also to found a brewery. 175 years later Matthias Schnaitl IV is managing director and is aware of the living tradition of his family history: “We - our family and our brewery - are firmly rooted in our region.
Purely Austrian barley malt, Mühlviertel aroma hops and crystal-clear water from our own deep well are brewed to the beers Original, Pils de luxe, Florian - Spezial, Festbock and the dark. Since beer needs enough time, it is given to him in the Schnaitl brewery: one week of main fermentation in the fermentation cellar and another five weeks in the storage cellar before it is gently filtered and bottled or vatted. The carefully selected ingredients from the region, tried-and-tested recipes and decades of experience in processing ensure that the beers have a fine, unobtrusive mildness. The motto here is "Quality instead of quantity".

Can from the Advent Calendar. Hard to exactly tell, but seems to be also listed as Meister Brau. Pours a clear orange hue with a medium white head. A light malty yeasty nose. Sweet, toast, some banana yeast, maybe light caramel. Solid beer. Wish that the calendar had more bigger beers that would hold up better with some age.

Advent Calendar: pours copperish with a white head. Aroma is mostly bready, some mild hops. Taste is lightly sweet. Low bitterness. Pretty smooth. Definitely one of the better beers from Advent Calendar. Did not have the terrible metallic taste many of the other beers had.

500 ml can from the Advent calendar. Aroma is caramel, honey, bready, grassy, clove, toasty. Pours hazy orange-golden with a one finger fluffy cream-white head with excellent retention and lots of tiny particulates floating around. Taste is sweet with a faint herbal bitterness in the finish. An above average beer for this box.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 28.03.2019, from Alko, 20180822) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, fruitiness, spiciness, honey and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with rather high carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, honey, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, hoppy and bitter. A rather nice pale bock. Bit too fizzy.

A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has maltyness, sweet fruitness of perry. Taste has sweet maltyness, now too much, perry, hint of alcohol. Medium+ bodied. Nice fruitness of perry, but otherwise too sweet with annoying alcohol.

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma of caramel, mild roasted malt, vanilla, cereals and grass. Pours clear dark brown color with medium creamy tan-like head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel and mild roasted malt, following is grassy, mouthfeel is warm, while finish is average bitter with pronounced hoppy aftertaste. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Few such beers makes you quickly silent...
