Pours a very dark, but not entirely black body and a form and dense, rocky, mocha coloured head with good retention. Aroma's: roasted malts, sweetish, mocha, dark chocolate. Retronasal: firmly roasted, sweetish, bitterish. Flavour is above moderate (chocolatey) sweet and moderate (roasted) bitter. Under medium bodied (at best, actually quite thin). Long finish with tons of roast, ashy almost, above moderate bitter. Surprisingly nice.

Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is sweet brown malt with caramel, spices, some liquorice root, yeast, dried fruits, figs. Flavour is quite sweet with a mild bitterness. Body is medium. Not the most complex Quad, but pleasant.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is brown malt with notes of orange, caramel, light cocoa, oats, some black pepper. Flavour is medium sweet with a mild bitterness. Body is medium. Sturdy oats, orange and pepper work really well. Pleasant sweetness. Quite nice.

Bottle, gift. Pleasant sweet malts with caramel, spicy notes, some dried fruits. Moderate to medium sweet, light bitter. Somewhat high in carbonation, medium body. Good Dubbel.

Bottle, gift. Aroma is herbal with juniper, lemongrass, notes of gin, grass, lemon, peppery notes. Slightly sweetish with a moderate bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body. Flavour is herbal, but too my liking. I can appreciate a well-brewed gin/beer hybrid.
