Dark brown color, light brown spongy head, fruity aroma, light coffee flavor, full body, mild carbonation, balanced finish. A nice feeling to experience.

Draft at Chelsea Brewing Company, in Manhattan. Hazy yellowish amber color, medium off-white head, citrusy aroma, bitter hoppy taste, medium body, long finish. Way too hoppy for me.

Union Hall, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours a pale gold with a white head. Aroma of malts, grain, and bread. Rather smooth brew, not particularly complex, but the flavors are in right proportions. There is some hop bitterness in there, along with a solid amount of malt. In other words, does not taste at all watery. Can’t really taste the wheat and don’t understand why some people saw corn in here.

People’s Republic of Brooklyn pint ($6): The bar had only this and Coors Light on tap. I think that I made the right choice. I guess this is a play on Hop Devil. Anyway, it pours a pretty light colored body, with a white head. Aroma is of piny hops and grapefruits... fresh as other people have said. The beer itself is sufficiently hoppy, with not that much astringency. Citrus flavors prevail, along with a little flower or two. Bitter, but not excessively. Drinkable and well balanced enough, but not outstanding.

Draught, 7.8% at the brewpub. Sweetish, roasted aroma, faintly vinous. Black colour. Small brown head. The flavour has a lot of coffee, especially coffee bitterness. Hard roasted malts. Some grassy hop with a bit of hop burn. Slightly creamy finish, does not seem quite right, somehow.

Draught, 6.3% at the brewpub. Subtle caramelly and grapefruity aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Small off-white head. The flavour has a rough bitterness and a bit of earth. Mild hop bite in the finish. Unfortunately, the hop notes from the aroma are not very prominent in the flavour.

Draught, 5.0% at the brewpub. Weak grapefruity aroma, hint of vomit. Cloudy amber colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is slightly rough, perhaps there is a hint of caramel under there. Not bad, just anonymous.
