7.8/10 β€” Appearance 10 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 8 Overall 7
Poured from a bottle. Aroma has a moderately strong apricot note with moderate acidity. Some light citrus and yogurt more. Faint wheat and make present as well. Pours a fairly clear, golden color with a medium large, fairly thick, white head that steadily recedes to a thin film that is thicker on the edges. Faint lacing and no legs. Flavor has a moderate to moderately strong acidity with some citrus, especially lemon. Some light yogurt notes with medium light wheat and malt character. A light sweetness with moderate apricot notes, though less than in the aroma. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and life alcohol warmth. Overall, a simple, clean Berliner with some nice apricot notes. Definitely more apricot in the aroma than flavor, but I like that this doesn’t go as fruit heavy as the de Garde beers do. That being said, I wish the base beer had more complexity.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is very chocolate forward with some lighter bourbon notes. Light roast and lactose notes. Hints of oak. Some light vanilla and dark fruit notes. Pours black with a thick, medium sized dark mocha head that recedes to a thin film that lingers for a long time. Medium light lacing with moderate legs. Flavor is rather sweet with lots of chocolate flavor. Light roast notes with medium bourbon character. Faint oak notes with some light vanilla and almond notes. Light alcohol spice but its well hidden by the chocolate sweetness. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and somewhat creamy and silky with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a better beer than I was expecting. Sweet with lots of chocolate and lighter notes from the bourbon barrel. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Tasting at Matt’s; batch 2, 5.25% ABV
Cloudy blond color. The aroma is a bit sour, lemony, plastic; nuts and cabbage; weird. Extremely sour, lactic, lemony, with no bitterness.
Unbalanced. Ok to drink only if you are looking for a lemon juice drink and no beer in it.

500 ml. bottle from The Good Hop. It pours a bright yellow color with a fizzy white head that fades quickly. The aroma is strong with lemon water, orange leaves and some white peach. Smells pretty acidic with nothing off. The flavor is very acidic up front with more lemon water, peach, hints of wheat and lots of lactic acid. The carbonation is very high even for this style and is a bit distracting at first, but it dies down a bit as the beer sits and becomes very pleasant. The peaches are there, but in good balance with the base style. I thought I was getting some stronger than normal herbal bitterness at first, but that also died down with the carbonation. Pretty watery on the palate. Overall, pretty enjoyable, but seems smaller than 4.5%.

Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours very hazy pale bluish red with a frothy pinkish offwhite head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and tiny funky with crackers, lemon juice, blackberries, hay, dry soil, minerals, barnyard and lemon zest. Taste is sour, fruity and tiny funky. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, slightly mouth-puckering and medium bodied. Finish is sour with crackers, lemon juice, frozen blackberries, currants, hay, minerals, lemon zest and hints of barnyard. Decent sour but nothing too impressive. Frozen blackberries, lemon juice and light funk.
