6.6/10 β€” Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 6.5
On tap at Darby's, pours an opaque cloudy bright orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out a lot of the cider upfront, with fresh apples, followed by some stone fruits and light caramel. Flavour is a strange synthesis, with lightly acidic apples, stone fruits, muted caramel and some alcohol. It's fairly cohesive, though a strange choice for a blend. Finishes somewhat astringent and hot. Pretty good for what it is, but I couldn't drink much of this.

2020-02-03, bottle, vintage 2015, ~5 years old, mostly stored warm, 7-5-6-3-13=34
It pours a very clean blond colour with medium to large head, disappearing fairly quickly. In the aroma, notes of sulfur, acid, hazelnut. Bone dry, the acidity is sharp but not excessive; mild flavour of crackers, lemon peel, very clean and refreshing, but not really complex; slightly mellower in the finish.
It's holding up quite well.

2015-08-27, draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver; 410ml, 8-4-7-3-16=38
Cloudy to murky, orange golden color with persistent head. Nice sour aroma, fruity (apricots), a bit footy too. The body is not weak; the flavor has many vinous characteristics (white wine), moderate acidity, a bit fruity, but the final has woody astringency, cork, and some vegetable bitterness.
Very good, not very elegant though.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver; 10 oz
Cloudy blond color with medium sized head. Delicate malt aroma, crackers. Soft mouthfeel, well carbonated; very nice flavor of bready and crackery malts, correct degree of bitterness, with mild grassy touch.
Very nice.

Draft - Sweet and bright leafy notes. Clearish pale gold with a decent white head. Light fruity tartness and some grains and a bit of a biter herbal note. I can sense where they were going, just didn’t quite make it.

Draft - Sweet lemon, some oaky buttery notes and dried mango. Hazy gold with a decent white head. Sweet peach and nice peel tartness and a neat fruity tart finish.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color, persistent compact head. The aroma is sour, funky and fruity; layered feelings, very interesting (7.5). Dry mouthfeel, weak too; the funky character unfortunately mingles with vegetable feelings; vinous, acetic; there is an extraneous element, that could be the spruce. The result is messy and not necessarily very pleasant, although the aroma was inviting.

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with a light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of bretty funk, wet wood, and mashed fruit. Flavors of light sour stoned fruit, old oak, and toasted malts. Fuller bodied than expected. Beautiful balance. Beautiful beer.

On tap at 12 Kings, pours an opaque cloudy orangey yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a lot of the spruce, along with stone fruits and some lingering bitterness. Flavour is bizarre, with a strange mix of spruce, stone fruits, metallic notes and bittering hops. It doesn't work so well together - pretty disharmonious. The unpleasant metallic bitterness lingers too much. Not a disaster but this is a big miss from Moon.

Draught @ St. Augustine’s. Hazy, light pale malt character with a light yeast note, dash of hop. Ok, probably needs more malt if the point is to showcase the malt. It comes across more like pale lager than helles.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with almost no head. Aroma brings out peaches, oak, and lovely tartness. Flavour is quite complex, with oak, lovely tartness and peaches / apricots. Wonderfully complex - the barrels are really well done. Excellent stuff. Another great barrel aged beer from Moon Under Water.
