Århus2008. 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber with a lacing white head. Mild grainy aroma, somewhat unrefined yet still inviting. Flavour is mild fruity vwith a little hops bite. Dry caramel malt base with a light spice note showing through. Ends dry and mild spiced.

Bottled in clear glass. reddish coloured with a decent white head. Slightly malty aroma. Decent malt and hops in the flavour but overwhelmed by an unpleasant, lingering aftertaste, which ruined this beer for me. The Bury St Edmunds version of Old Bob is significantly worse than I remember, and I won’t be drinking it again.

Bottle: Clear, reddish-amber coloured, no head to speak of; fruity (citrus ?) and (toasted-)malty nose with a big touch of herbal hops; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; lingering aromatic herbal-hoppy and delicate sweet-malty finish. A pleasant brew......

(bottle) Clear, ruby amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Aromatic, slightly floral hoppy aroma with fruity malt and liquorice spice. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with pleasantly carbonated, silky mouthfeel. Solid malty base with notes of toffee and a delicate fruitiness; dry, bitter and floral hoppy finish. Still pretty good.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Holborn. Dark amber, good clarity and white foamy head. Vague citric aroma. Spicy and malty taste supported by mild tartness. Refreshing, but rather dull (01.02.2007).

Bottle: reddish amber with an off-white head; malty aroma and taste; very full in the mouth with some fruitiness and with a touch of pepper on the finish. A well-constructed old ale.

Bottle picked up at Morrison’s, Bridport, Dorset. For a filtered, pasturised beer this really was very good. Poured reddy brown colour, aroma was predominantly malty and sweet, taste was also malty again bit sweet but very flavoursome with nuts and fruits also swishing around as I said very good GK beer.
