[500ml bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave - cheers!] I hadn’t yet tried any of the new 2.8% ales bought out since the tax changes, and thought it was a bit of a shame that the first one I got to try was from GK. I shared it with my brother who (without knowing what he was drinking) said with some distaste "this taste a bit Greene Kingish". And yes, it does have some of their typical caramel and toffee notes in it. But it also has some soft and pleasant hops - lemon, orange and peach. It’s easy drinking, but it’s quite pleasant and well balanced and there’s a decent amount of flavour for the strength, A surprisingly good effort from GK - well done!

28/04/12 - Bottle from Tesco Extra, a light one, a bit on the thin side. Not bad for low ABV.

500ml bottle. Clear orangey dark amber colour, foamy white head that diminishes leaving some lacing, and a malty mash aroma. Taste is malt and grain, sweetish toffee, with a slight bitterness and a dry finish. Light watery body and medium carbonation. OK considering the low strength.

Bottled 500ml. -Clear amber coloured, small off-white head, slight herbal and butterscotch nose. Mild bitter hoppy, passion fruit and butterscotch taste with watery finish. Dryish finish. Has potential, especially with so small alcohol content.

Cask@The Jubilee, Norwich. Goldeny orange colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mild maltyness along with some grainy notes. Flavour is rather similar with rather unpleasant grainyness and rubbery notes in it.

Bottle from Tesco. Copper coloured with a tight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Light, malty aroma with a chalky edge and some boiled sweets. Flavour was sweet with plenty of caramel and a surpassingly heavy mouth feel for such a low ABV beer. Finish was moderately bitter, with some jarring sodden cardboard. A strange mix and inferior to Fuller’s similarly weak Mighty Atom.

Bottle from Tesco Exmouth. Clear amber, mid-sized head. Good hop aroma. Light-bodied with shy malt flavour, hints of caramel and some quite nice resiny and grassy hops, especially in the finish.
