Description
In 1861 the 25-years old Heinrich Schneider decided to found a brewery on the “Grün’schen Hof” in Hachenburg. The Hachenburger brewery soon became the most important family brewery within the region. With business leader and co-owner Jens Geimer the family-owned company has reached the fifth generation and is still entirely independent.

Key to the success is that the beer is consistently cooled, the precious beer has achieved its special aroma over and over again for 150 years. What was true then is still true today: the long and cold ageing process is a fundamental requirement for a real Hachenburger as well as the use of high-grade raw materials. As well as the natural spring water from the Rothbach valley

Bottle at the apt at Lahnstein. Pours almost completely clear with a white head. Nose is pale malts, hay, grains, low intensity, but decent. Taste is light acetaldehyde, pale mats, some grain sweetness with a hint of dryness in the end that could might as well be the thin, empty body on a second thought. Not tragic, but not great either

330ml bottle. Opalescent, amber colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Weak, sweet-ish, minimally grainy and toasty, malty aroma, a touch of honey-covered cereals. Taste is slightly bready and grainy malty, subtle residual sweetness, mildly bitter, minimally grassy, hoppy counterpart, a touch of brown bread crust and honey-covered cereals. Minimally oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Nice mouthfeel, quite simple and cautious - meh!
