Description
The brewery Fuglsang can rightly call itself Denmark's oldest family-owned brewery. Søren Christian Fuglsang founded the brewery in 1865, and today it is some of his great-grandchildren who, with respect for the craft and the raw materials, produce solid South Jutland beer.

The family also runs its own export malt factory, which is Denmark's largest and one of the few independents in Europe - it is the one that supplies a large part of the good malt to Fuglsang's beer.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and yellow to orange with a collapsing white head. Sweet malty aroma with an acidic towards hoppy nose. Flavour has a slight breadish note followed by a mild fruit note and some acidity leading into a decent bitterness from the hops before the alcohol completely conqour the brew. Finish is a solid alcohol flavour leading into a slight warming finish. Sadly too alcohol heavy.

Bottled. A red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of licorice and straw, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry finish with light notes of straw lingering. Thanks Myrup for sharing.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Clear, amber colour with a dense, creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Fruity, lightly citrusy nose. Fairly light in body with a discreet malt base and dry, fresh citrus notes. A lightly bitter finish. Well balanced and good craftmanship. 201107
