Gravity cask from the brewery tap. Dark gold in colour, flat with thick white lacing. Guava jelly dominates the smell, with a note of passion fruit and some papaya. A light biscuit base to the scent. Sweet taste initially but the bitterness of the hop and some bitter tea leaf notes overtake toward the long and intensely bitter finish. Kumquat and medicinal bitters add to the aftertaste. Incredible.

Gravity cask at the Brewery Tap, Norwich. 4.9% ABV. Very, very dark brown. Small bit of beige head on top. Heady malt scent with intense dark chocolate. Nicely balanced taste: the sweetness is balanced by a light but notably bitter hop taste. Heavily roasted malt, salt liquorice and acidic hop in the aftertaste. Not the thickest body, but it’s not overly thin either. Very nice, a prince of a porter.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a thin head. Totally tropical taste akin to the jingle for the ’Lilt’ advert. It would be like fruit juice if it wasn’t for a notable strength.

2nd Sep 2016: gravity poured half-pint in The Wrekin Inn, Wellington Shropshire. Golden pour, weak white head. Not a lot going on to be honest, mild citrus notes and a light malty flavouring.

Cask @ Fighting Cock, Bradford. Golden coloured with a small head. Hoppy in the main, certainly in its taste, with some maltiness in its aroma.
