About
Co-founded in 1981 as Pitfield Brewery by Rob Jones (who went on to set up Dark Star brewery) and Martin Kemp operating from 8 Pitfield Street, N1 before moving to 4 Hoxton Square, N1 in 1986. Briefly relocated to Stourbridge following a merger with Premier Midland Ales, becoming Pitfield's Premier Brewing Co in 1990 but in 1991 the company went into liquidation.

Revived in 1996 as Pitfield's Brewery at 14 Pitfield Street, N1 before relocating outside of London to Great Horkesley, Essex in 2006 and then to Moreton, Ongar in 2007.

Martin, Pitfield's brewer/owner retired in 2012 to run a pub in Newmarket. Andy Skene bought the business and continued to brew Pitfield's beers alongside his own Dominion beers. This ceased in 2018.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, licorice notes, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, licorice.
