Cask (Wenlock Arms, London) - Black in colour. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Roasted and slightly hoppy taste wih coffee, chocolate and roasted malt.

Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate yeasty, shoe polish - leather. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, spicy notes. [ As Pitfield Christmas Wheat ].Unclear matt medium to dark orange color with a average to large, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, dusty spicy, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, spicy bitter, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, christmas spices, citrus, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141205] 5-2-6-3-11

On gravity at Bristol beer festival, 19/03/10. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruit and a lactose tang. Flavour was a similar mix of black coffee, bitter chocolate, leading to a dry, slightly sour finish. Good.

Bottle @ Fastelavnssmagning, Ulfborg. Pours hazy amber with a small creamy and bubbly head and lacings. Nose and flavor is sweet of cinnamon, bread and wheat. Medium bodied.

Clear amber with a tiny off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and cinnamon. Finished bitter.

Bottle, 5.5%. Spicy aroma, pumpkin or christmas spices. Cloudy brown colour. Small white head. The flavour has some of the same spices as the aroma, again pumpkin and/or christmas pudding spices. Yeasty aftertaste.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and some elderflowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a dry nutty finish.

Cask at Pigs Ear. Very dark brown beer. Smells winey. Very full of flavour, full of hops but quickly bittering with it. Has a lot of stout like dryness and roastyness. Okay but not a patch on the previous 2 Mares!

Bottle. Very dark brown beer, good cream coloured head. Crisp with good carbonation. Sourish malt with some pretty bitter hops coming through in the semi dry finish. Long aggressive bitter linger. An odd beer - quite palatable but then the very aggressive hops kicks in!

Medium offwhite head. Deep red body. Wooden roasty spicy aroma, fairly harmonic. Dry roasty wooden wheaty spicy taste with plastic notes. Thinnish body. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish earthy faintly bananaish aftertaste. Decent, but tastes like there’s a yeast problem of some sort. (0.5l bottle.)
