Description
Defying the odds isn’t just what we do, it’s a part of our DNA. We were founded by a woman in 1867. Lived through two wars. Survived a fire. Overcame the Halifax Explosion. Competed as an independent company against breweries 100 times our size. We haven’t just survived - we’ve thrived. And while others back down, we outlast. Moosehead Breweries Limited is the last major brewery in Canada still owned by Canadians. The brewery is located in Saint John, New Brunswick and operates with values that have been safely guarded by the same family for 148 years. Despite obstacles – devastating fires, Prohibition, the Great Depression, two world wars, obstructive trade barriers, and bruising competition from breweries 100 times its size – Moosehead is one of the most durable and long lasting companies in Canada. Ultimately it has been the Oland family’s passion for beer that has enabled them to be successful over the long term. With their product on beer shelves from the Maritimes to B.C., and its flagship Moosehead Lager shipped to approximately 350 distributors in the U.S.; Moosehead has become an iconic mainstay in North America’s beer industry

0.473 l can from 'Bierothek' (online). Slightly hazy, golden with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, a little grassy-spicy aroma of grains, corn, traces of fresh grass and hints of lemon peel. Minimally sweet, quite dry, gently bitter, moderately grassy and minimally fruity-floral taste of grains, corn, some iron, hints of fresh grass and a touch of lemon peel, followed by a short, gently bitter, dry, almost watery finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Drinkable, quite refreshing, cannot disguise its macro heritage though.

Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Actually drinkable, solid soft drink.

A very light haze, golden colour with an off-white, frothy head that has a decent stay and lacing. Big sweet, sugary and artificial raspberry nose with some softening vanilla essences. Great, if this is what you want - which I do not mind if I take as a candy brew. The taste is not as sweet, so a nice balance between the fruit, some light malt, so the fruit is more on the juicy, than candy like notes. An interesting Radler that seems like the beer is mixed with the blue Kool-aid.

Quite sweet, gently bitter, minimally sourish, rather fruity taste of grapefruit, pomelo, some lemonade and traces of grains, followed by a short, gently bitter, a little tart finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very decent Radler, so far the best from the brewery's variety pack. Not as artificial as the other ones, even quite refreshing.
