Description
Founder of Dot Brew, Shane Kelly, has made a name for both himself and his brand over the last few years through a keen passion and love for experimentation when it comes to his brews, most notably in the form of barrel ageing and hybrid styles. The Dublin based brewer has carved out quite a niche, developing a unique style and approach which has helped put Dot Brew at the forefront of the Irish Craft Beer scene. While the beers are brewed in various microbreweries in and around Dublin, they are then brought home to Dolphin’s Barn. The site is home to about 50 barrels in a small warehouse which Kelly refers to as his ‘spice rack’, with casks ranging from French oak, Mexican tequila and American bourbon, to name but a few.

440 ml can from La Birroteca, Alcalá de Henares. A very hazy golden pour with a thick, off-white head that leaves a ring. Aroma is very intense, with loads of tropical fruit (mango, passionfruit) and peaches and apricots. There's also wild honey galore and bitter herbs. Crisp, dry and medium-bodied. Bitterish finish that lingers less than expected, in spite of which I still like this brew very much.

Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light puckering edge. Okay refresher.

330ml can from Craft Central, Dublin. Quaffed at a lodge in the Wicklow Mountains. Dull unclear gold appearance, large white head. Peppery yeasty vibes.. bit thin overall.. lacks a fresh saison definition and clarity of flavour. Ok

Can at home, from an online peddler whom I can't recall, 12/01/24. Hazed orange with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is orange zest, grass, light perfume, melon, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises tangerine, grass, melon, grass, light maple bill, mixed citric peel. Medium to lighter body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow hop trace. Solid for an AF affair.
