Bottle direct from the brewer via amazon, it was shook up in transit so I should let it settle for a few days but I decided to try one right away. I gotta say I love the simple label design plus a nice touch is the color of the label matches the color of the style of the beer! So this kolsch is a deep gold just like the label. It also had a fizzy white head which left ok lacing behind. The aroma is sweet & malty, light hop notes but also with a slight yeastiness reminiscent of a weizen... somewhat more of an estery spicy/fruity quality than I typically expect from a kolsch. Medium-light bodied with a smooth satisfying mouthfeel. The flavor is pretty good; slight malty sweetness with crisp lightly bitter hop notes making for a refreshing easy drinking beer. Looking at the BJCP guidelines for a kolsch I guess that aside from the aroma it is pretty much bang on. For me often these kind of light beers are too sweet but this isn’t sugary at all, while not outstanding I think it’s a good example of the style and pretty well made. I look forward to trying their other two beers!
