Description
Hardywood officially began its mission to brew with purpose in late 2011 as one of only two craft breweries in the city of Richmond. Our original brewhouse and taproom was a vacant warehouse discovered in a long-forgotten neighborhood known nearly a century prior as Richmond’s German Brewing District. Hardywood has been drawing new life to this forgotten area one draft pour at a time. We now operate a 20-barrel brewhouse and taproom in the original location, as well as a 60-barrel brewhouse and destination brewery in the West Creek area of Richmond, right on the border of Goochland County.
Today, Hardywood continues to develop and deliver on its mission with a sharp focus on brewing quality, sourcing local, environmental stewardship, community engagement, and giving back.

22oz bottle purchased directly from brewery. Poured a cloudy dark yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light citrus, mostly malt character with plenty of bready yeast notes. Very drinkable on some of these very hot days.

Got a glass of this at the brewery right before it kicked. Lucky me. Pours a hazy purple color with a thin wispy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of berries, citrus and tart wheat. The taste is dry wheat and tart blackberries. Medium bodied, high carbonation.

I believe this is the base beer for the Virginia Blackberry and Strawberry beers, and frankly the base beer is much better. Pours a hazy lemon color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bread, spice and herbal notes. The taste is wheat, citrus, spice, floral notes and herbal hops. Medium bodied, creamy texture. Nice beer.

Poured draft at brewery and also in 750 corked bottle. Poured a nice hazy golden yellow-orange color with a nice fluffy white head.
Aroma is nice citrus hops with a good malty balance and a nice Belgian yeast character to it.
Crisp and refreshing, but it does pack a bit of a wallop in terms of the alcohol as it is highly drinkable.

Draft at source. Poured a rich dark brown, semi-translucent brown. Aroma is full-on bourboun. Flavor is nice, sweet malts. Smooth bourboun. Alcohol was lower than listed here, so perhaps different barrel treatment.
