Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’14, day 1, 02/12/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is earthy hop, vanilla, caramel, light citric notes. Taste comprises pale malt, straw, citric peel, orange, lemon rind. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with a grassy bitter linger. So so.

From cask. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruity and light peachy hoppy. Fruity, peachy and slight citrusy. Crisp hoppy. Bitter and lingering crisp hoppy fruity finish.

Cask at the Old Ship Inn, Hackney. Poured a clear reddish brown with a bubbly white head. The aroma is light fruity malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at the Old Ship Inn, Hackney. Poured a clear straw colour with a bubbly white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is citrus fruit hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light citrus hop bitter palate. Light to moderate bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle (from AbM). Orangeish amber colour, small head. Aroma is wooden, resiny and mildly nutty with some slight sweet maltiness to it as well. Flavour is bready and toffeeish malts, some slight floral, wooden and nutty notes along with some mild earthy and grassy bitterness towards the finish.

Bottle at home in London. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds some bready malts, hints of buttery caramel, orange. Light to medium sweet flavor with a bit of oily pine, juicy citrus fruits, more bread, some dough. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance on the finish, with lightly toasted pale, bready malts, moderate pine, citrus rind, earth, slight minerality. Not bad. (December 2014, score: 3.3)

Light-medium sweet flavor with some sticky pine, dry pale bread, light grass, rind. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Pigs Ear. Cask. Light haze on this deep amber beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Palate is light, dry and a little crisp. Cinnamon and what tastes like cloves. Cherries and orange and a little raisin. Light dry finish. Bitterish linger. Yep, very much a Christmas beer! Tasty.
