Draught at Castle West as Aqula Amber. Huge hoppy nose, Nelson Sav? Light caramel malt behind. Glowing orange amber with a beautiful fine head. Light but definite caramel malt flavor, rich and tasty but out-shone by grassy, dirty citrus hops. The subtle maltiness is great. Wickedly bitter—maybe too much. Full body but not heavy. Great.

Draught at Q-Brick. Dirty light brown with lace. Looks a bit nasty. Big Nelson Sauvin nose, grassy, with light citrus, plus wheat, esters, apricot. Nice estery flavor with huge hops. Very bitter with grass and apricots. Full, smooth body, low carbonation. Excellent, though a bit less refined and somewhat harsher than their Citra Weisse.

Definitive kiwi ipa. Beyond balanced, tons of Nelson sav, excellent backbone. Arguably a pale ale, but if that is the case, a new benchmark has been made. After coming back from NZ recently, I am very confident in saying this is a benchmark, or near a benchmark. Only 8wire can compete with this quality. After having this many many times over the past 11 months, I can say the first batch was clearly the best and deserved the 4.0 rating. However, since then, this been has fluctuated between 3.0 and 3.6. it still should get credit for the first batch I tasted, but new rating reflects first rating and numerous other samples this year.

Medium amber color, some fruity notes in the nose, but nothing too distinguishable. Moderately hoppy palate with decent carbonation. soft bitter finish. Its an Amber ale. Plain and simple, nothing else and little to nothing to do with a Kolsch

lots of funk in the nose. White peaches, honey, blueberry, melon. Wow. Amazing nose. Light, slightly acidic. Very interesting.

Draught at Ichinoseki Craft Beer Festival 2011. Deep copper color with just about no head. Aroma is of caramel and wet, grassy hops. Big grass hop flavor, green and juicy, with light caramel malt. Nice and very drinkable. Seems very much like a lighter version of the IPA.

Draught at Devil Craft. Cloudy, medium brown with lace. Nice green hop and caramel nose, interesting, very fragrant, huge grass! Flavor is green, juicy hops and caramel. Original and fun. Very nice--good malts, rich and nice. the grassy, green hops are a bit weird in combination with the caramel, but it’s very fun and tasty as hell. Good job.

Draught at the Eni-Bru 4th Anniversary Celebration. Deep red-amber color with no head. Dry Belgian yeast aroma, fruity, with amber malt, caramel, cherry. Flavor gives caramel, pomegranate (really like concentrated, stewed pomegranate), dry earth. The fruit is huge and condensed, and a bit strange. Like a hoppy, fruity, Belgian amber. Interesting and nice, with a bit of menthol and pine from the hops. Could be better attenuated.

Deep amber. Lots of crystal malts, apricots and earthiness. Solid malt backbone perfectly balances the hops. Some sourness but not too much. Moderately aggressive hoppy finish. Wow, renewed respect for these guys. Solid effort.

Draught at 2012 GJBF Osaka. Clear, deep gold with lace. Nice nose, fruity, cherry, a bit of citrus hop and wheat. Rounded, gumball cherry, wheat, cherry cake flavor, dry bitter finish. Very well put together and interesting. Bottle from Yamaoka, June 2011: 7/2/7/3/14. Aroma is cherry, citrus hops, wheat, peaches and banana. Very interesting, actually. Dull, muddy brown with lace. Fruity and rather sweet, with orange, cherry, peach, melon. Very interesting fruit, with decent hops as well. A bit strange, but intersting and likeable. Could be less sweet.
