Bottle, picked up from brewery (no label, but named Imperial IPA). Body is a nice copper color with a small and frothy head. Aromas are of citrus hops and a little touch of pine. Flavor is bitterly hoppy... grapefruit and pine... that give way to a caramel malt presence that seems just a bit underpowered for all of the hops. Alcohol is obvious and little attempt is made to hide it. There is a bit of a peppery edge to this beer as well. An interesting contrast to some of the very malt heavy Californian IPA’s in that the malt is there and gives a nice thick mouthfeel, but the hops still never disappear from the limelight.

12 oz bottle from Dansting. Pour is ruby red brown with a big dirty white head. Clear pour. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, with a slight bit of fruit (apple?) Taste has the sweet caramel plue a really nice roastiness to it. Nice medium to full body, yet is very smooth and drinkable. I appreciate you lugging these beers back for me Dan.

bottle - Pours copper with a thin, lingering head that has good lacing. It has a nice grapefruit hops aroma. The flavor is sharp hops with not a lot of malt backing. To me the balance is off and the finish has a somewhat off taste to it. They nailed the aroma, but the taste and palate is lacking.

12oz. bottle from Dansting. Pour is orange ruby with a quick fading off white head. Aroma is sweet nutty malt with a hint of sourness (initially) which goes away quickly. Taste is a nice blend of the nutty malt and some of the muted citrus hop. Good solid Pale Ale.

Pour is a dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma is deffinatly nutty with some caramel malts and brown sugar. Flavor is a bit weaker that the aroma but it has some bready qualities and the hops show up more in the aftertaste. Yea its pretty good.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is nice with lots of cloves and some banana in there. Flavor is also nice. very fruity and peppery with a nice amount of cloves and yeast. The is prob the best American version of a German Hefe that i have ever had.

From a growler: This beer is a murky amber color with a medium thin light beige head. Slick spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is sweet malt and spices. Medium-bodied with a nice contrast of sweet malt and molasses with spices and hops. The undertone of alcohol is present all along as well. The finish has a clove taste and leaves a lingering hoppy bite. Pretty good.

Brewed for Shakespeare’s Pub in Kalamazoo by Michigan Brewing Co. Bottle: hazy orange-brown body, thick dissipating cream head that leaves nice lacing. Bitter, citrusy hops nose with heavy, sweet caramely malts. Bitter, sharp hops slam the palate with notes of citrus and perfume. Caramely, sweet malts lend heft to the beer but play second fiddle to the intense hopping. This is an interesting departure from MBC’s own hoppy beers.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with only a trace of a tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was very strong roasty and toasty malts with a smoky undertone. The body is thin. The flavor is very smoky and roasty and dry. There is a hint of coffee and a strong smoky finish. Definitely not my style.

This one came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bronze color with a very large dark tan head. The aroma is strong sweet grapefruity hops. The flavor is sharp and crisp fruity hops with moderately strong sour and tangy malts underneath. Solid if unspectacular.
