Description
We are an award winning craft brewery, producing an impressive selection of delicious Craft Beer.
Born in 2013, Firebird was created by Bill and Richard who re-established an old friendship which began at The University of Birmingham’s Brewing School. Both studied for an M.Sc in Brewing Science and Technology and on completion went their separate ways. Bill to join and eventually run family firm King and Barnes in Horsham and Richard to continue his career with Courage and then a move into the Wines and Spirits Industry.
On making contact again in 2012 it didn’t take too many beers to realize that a joint venture in brewing was the only sensible thing to do! Soon a site was found in an old converted brickworks in Rudgwick and a brewing plant was purchased and installed. The first commercial beer Heritage XX was sold at the end of June 2013. 10 years later Firebird produces a large range of award winning beers and has a thriving shop and bar as well.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 6/1/2014. Unfortunately, this was as unpleasant as others noted. Diacetyl dominated, colliding head on with some earthy malts. I struggled to finish it. An early contender for worst beer of 2015.

Bottle split at home, thanks to James, 27/11/14. Lightly hazed golden with little in the way of any headwork. Nose is bland, apple core, grass, vanilla, orchard notes. Taste comprises straw, yeasty tones, apple core, light citric notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Pap ! Just no flavour to this, totally washed out feel to it!

Bottle split at home, thanks to James, 27/11/14. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is musty, spice, clove, light nana, orange peel. Taste comprises yeast tones, spice, straw, touch of banana, caramel. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation - a little overcooked, fairly astringent bitter tones in the close. So so meets passable, too bitter for the style.
