Cask, handpump at The Green Man, Bristol, 28.01.12 Pours dark, dark brown this is roasty with some coffee flavours. Has a decent bitterness, touch furry, but generally roasty with good dollop of fruitiness. Pleasant. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, 17/09/2011. Deep gold with a billowy white head. Slightly sweet aroma, with some apricot and citrus fruit and a hoppy edge. Flavour was similar, with some solid, slightly earthy malts and a big, bitter finish. Good.

Cask-conditioned at the Green Man’s Medieval festival 15/09/2011. This was Gruit Lush with a touch of mead added during brewing. The honeyed aroma and flavour with the added sweetness it offered made this slightly more preferable to the base beer. Good.

Cask-conditioned at the Green Man, Bristol’s Medieval beer festival 15/09/2011. This was recorded as 4.6% ABV. not the 4% on the Dawkins’ website. Dark mahogany in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel, green herb and berry aroma with a hint of roastiness and some heather. Sweet, malt flavour, with plenty more fruit and some spice, followed by a vegetal, savoury edge and moderately bitter finish. Interesting to try, but a half was sufficient - I can see why hops were such an advance in brewing.

Cask-conditioned at the Green Man, Bristol Medieval beer festival as "the princes in the tower" (subtitled Green Bullet). Deep gold with a slight white head. Lemon hop, slightly spicy aroma with some malt sweetness. Biscuity malt flavours, with plenty of fruit and a dry, earthy finish. Good.

From cask at Market Porter. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is grassy and slight hayish. Bitter, citrusy and crisp hoppy flavoured. Bitter and crisp hoppy into the finish. Ends dry and bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 19/6/2011. Golden with a slight white head. Aroma had some tropical fruit and grassy hops. Flavour had citrus and pineapple fruit, slightly sweet malts and a dryish finish.
