Description
Independently-owned craft brewery providing North Carolina with quality beers since 1994.

Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted dairy system, we set and accomplished the goal of providing unique traditional ales & lagers available through OHB. Quickly we outgrew that system.

In 1997, we began the renovation of an 1880 Historic Landmark building, which now houses our brewing facilities, a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house.

Opaque black pour with a tan head. The aroma is complex, with chocolate, coffee, roast malts and Bourbon all playing with the nose. The flavor puts all of the aromas on your tongue. Very nicely done.

Received in trade from brentk56, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a solid black color with a fluffy khaki head that slowly recedes to lots of chunky lace. Smells heavy on the roasted malts, lots of coffee, caramel, and chocolate mixed with some smoke and a hint of citrus and pine. Taste is much the same. Dark roasted malts leaning heavy on the coffee end. Pine hops come through midway and finishes with a dry long lingering roasted coffee bitterness. Medium body and light carbonation. Nice Stout! I really enjoyed this one, but it does finish a little dry for my liking. I wouldn’t hesitate to imbibe this one if it were more accessible.
