Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy amber with a lacing, off-white head. Nose is a little perfumy also a little greasy. Medium body, sweetish caramel and fruit - with a vague hint of tartness, that may or may not develop. A vague, underlying moldiness. Very subdued bitterness. 220818

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a neat, hazy amber with an off-white head. Rather overwhelming aroma of the sweet gale, but also piney and resinous. Solid body, somewhat caramellish but again overpowering sweet gale. Not entirely clean though as there's an estery, phenollic yeast note and a vague moldy edge. Rather bitter finish, but not only a hoppy bitterness. Certainly more flavorful than the more commercial sweet gale beers, but it all becomes a bit much for my palate. 200818

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy yellow with a lacing, white head. Tart, spicy, slightly citrusy aroma. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, lowish carbonaton, yeasty, a discreet sweetness but leading up to a dry and hoppy finish. Actually very pleasant for a style that has so many flawed examples. 210618

Botle 33 cl. Pours an almost clear brown with a warm, reddish hue and a beige head. Nose has some dried fruits, burned caramel and alcohol, Rich, malty body, has an underlying slight moldy note, but not too off-putting. Herbal, spicy medicinal, brown sugars and booze. Nice winter warmer. Best from Thorning so far. 200618

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with a smallish off-white head. Massive, soapy coriander in the nose. Rich, fruity, malty body again with a massive imprint of coriander. Some phenols lurking as well as some lactic acid I'm afraid, but nowhere as bad as in the Cistercienser - yet. I'm worried that Thorning may have some serious issues with their hygiene. 110118

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a murky, opaque nutty brown head with a fizzy, off-white head that dissipates in a second. Nose is biscuity and slightly nutty. Medium body, flavorwise it's hard to get past the massive lactic infection that disrupts and overpowers pretty much everything. A beer this infected really shouldn't be on the market. 110118
