Towering, just off-white head, over clear copper-amber beer, finely carbonated. Sweet, caramel, raisins, grape syrup, oxydated hops. Bitter, hops and some roast, and caramel, utterly in unbalance, instead of counterweighing. Again kind of grapey, but as concentrate. Fiery MF, feel also as from diluted grapesyrup. Medium body. A try-out? Try again, this lacks every balance. Thanks to Stef!

33cl bottle from ABS Drinks near Herent. F: medium, egg-white, good retention. C: deep gold, light hazy. A: banana, fruity, coriander, spicy, honey, bit bready. T: full malty base, banana, peach, spicy, coriander, bit caramel, decent bitterness, honey touch, medium carbonation, warming alcohol touch, quite nice for tripel yet nothing really memorable, enjoyed.

Bottle from Deconinck. Cloudy black, small foamy, beige head. Intense aroma of rum-soaked raisin, oxidized red apple, fig, pear syrup, dark fudge, fondant, gravy, kahlua, meringue, whisky, cold coffee. Taste has sweet, almost heavy sweet raisin, plum & pear over a thick toffee & syrupy malt body with a dark chocolate & coffee roast powder effect into the middle. Touch of vanilla there, some sweet-umami jerky, gravy - or perhaps actual black pudding by association. Ends malty but decently peppery hoppy with lingering wet wood, vanilla, candied fruits & boozy bourbon alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very thick, sweet with a somewhat meaty aspect, rather boozy but not disturbing here. More!

Pours with an enormous head. dark caramel brown color, under said huge, cream-white colored , medium-low stability of a fairly creamy head. Scent is BE yeast, fairly complexly joined by the darker malts and a hint of hops. Balance seems to be key here, though the yeasty aroma's have the upperhand ( as is usual for the style). Taste is full. Dark malts provide an earthy, chocolaty aroma. Medium sweet, has a good amount of bitterness as well. Very highly carbonated ( overcarbonated ) which is a big negative for me. Yeast is less up front. Still very noticable, but the aroma's that are to be conected to it don't take the upperhand as much, making for a quite balanced taste profile. Some dark bread aroma. Very enjoyable, yet overcarbonated.
Also wanted to mention the label and text. I didn't connect the dots with only the name, but seeing the picture, being a big 'In De Gloria' fan, i instantly got the idea behind it ! the text is just hilarious. Finally, 'funny' beerlabel done right ! If they can just fix the overcarbonation, this would make a great re-buy beer for me. Both for comical reasons, and it being actually quite good as well ! Perhaps an ever so slight touch of metallicness as well though.

Pours black, gigantic, tanned head (no gusher, but it pours just as foamy). The foam is very stable, even rising, making it a job for the long run to actually fill this glass with beer. The scent is very intense vaniline. Bourbon, sharp (acidic?) touch, roasty, some ash even. Not as creamy and intense and smooth as the American versions we all love so much. The beer is highly carbonated. Taste is rather sharp ( not specifically sour though, so don't think it's infected, just overcarbed / Not fully fermented before bottling ? ) intense vaniline, oak, roasty, mildly ashy. Body is medium thin to thin. Its not bad, at all, but there sure is room for improvement.

Bottle. Pours very, very foamy . Medium dark amber, relatively unclear. White, dense, stable (and huge) head. Scent still is very intense though, all the good hoppyness we know and love ( at least, I do ) of Hoogheid. Malty. Very natural aroma in general. Taste is surprisingly bitter. very malty (cornflake like) . Intense yeast impression as well. Not very Belgian like yeast, but yeasty nevertheless. High carbonation ( lowered by the big head already, so I'd say its a bit overcarbed ). Decent, but no match to the real deal

Fles gedeelt met Roelzie1986. Het is een helder goudgeel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige wat bloemige geur. De smaak is moutig, bloemig en hoppig.
