Description
Vleesmeester Brewery saw the light in 2010, when 3 friends –after years of frequenting beer festivals- decided to make their own beers. We bought ourselves a starter kit, and so it began.
Some people in our surroundings wondered what we were doing in the kitchen and wanted to come take a look. Whilst crushing the malt they thought we were grinding it in a meat mill. So they started calling us “Vleesmeester” which means meatmaster in Dutch. From then on we called ourselves “Vleesmeester Brewery”, a lay-outer and friend of ours made a logo, and “Vleesmeester Brewery” was born.
Fascinated by the less known beers out of the craft beer scene we started experimenting. Our preference went to hoppy beers and our firstborns were mostly IPA’s and Russian Imperial Stouts. One better than the other, by trial and error.
Along the way, the people, who weren’t into hoppy beers at first, started to find appreciation for what we were doing. In 2014 the guys from the Antwerp based band “Your Highness” asked us to make a beer to serve at the release of their album, this beer became “Hoogheid”.

Pours black, small to medium tanned head. Smell is full, tad sweet, noticeable bourbon and oak chips. Smell very nice. Actually. Mild roasty. Even some cocoa like features. Vanilla is hidden as a specific, but contributes to the whole for sure. Taste is full, noticeable alcohol, towards boozy. Roasty. Sharp, almost ashy malts. Soft aspects from the oak ( and bourbon). Vanilla is recognizable, but very hidden. Mouthfeel is medium, I would prefer a thicker body ( with a more complex malt base). Carbonation is medium high ( which is always higher than my personal preference). Good beer in general, but with all this ( international) competition, this might just need that little something extra.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Kraddel's 10K Madness. Bit uglier hazy orange, little white head. Nose is pleasant mango, peach, stone fruit, minor haze but in the right ballpark. Taste is overripe fruit, raw bread dough, touch yeast which doesn’t fully fit it but overall proper overripe fruit & some mango. Not top but very properly done & nice to drink, very neat. Hail Lemmy!

Draught Good yellow-white head, stable, over fully hazy pineapple juice-coloured beer. Pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit, runny cheese, overtly fruity. Sweet-fruity flavours with a bitter finish, and a fine fruit-sour lining, excellent balance. The fruitflavours dominate throughout, thanks to the chosen hops. Yeast/protein-filled, quite slick but not chewy. Far from bad. This beer might be perfected by applying British-style finings...

Tap at Kraddel's 10K Madness, congrats Dylan! Pun on Motörhead - Ace Of Spades. Murky yellow-golden color with white head. Aroma is orange juice, biscuity malts, wheat. Taste is orange juice, a bit dusty, mealy. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Fun, but quite good Haze.
