Tulip at the brewery - clear dark gold with a moderate lace - pretty clean and straightforward, with not discernible flaws, but to its slight detriment, as it winds up being a little thin and lacking character - flavor is clean, lightly sweet - hop character is subdued, not that bright, but does bring a nice citric acidity to the sides of the tongue late - light pepper and grass - a bit of melon - lightly sweet in the finish - it’s decent, but boring.

GABF 2015. Dark brown. Aroma has alcohol, brown sugar, dried fruit. Very sweet in the flavor and more dried fruit. Tons of malt, and a very thick palate that combined with the sweetness caused it to become almost cloying, but not quite.

Tap at the brewery - fairly hefty beast here - mostly malt driven, without the breadth of yeast complexity I usually want in the style, but still complex in malt character alone - plum, tamarind, treacle, chocolate - the yeast does bring some spiciness and earth late - fairly strong alcohol, but not boozy - perhaps a little too sticky in the finish, but decent.

Tap at the brewery - billed as a Belgian style pils - fairly mild Belgian yeast presence - just a touch of esters, maybe a hint of pepper - mostly dry, crisp, with a moderate mineral character through the middle - finish brings slight sweetness, some melon - sweetness lingers a bit in the finish, bringing some banana and a slightly off creamed corn kind of quality that throws off the enjoyment factor.

Tulip at the brewery - I appreciate that they went for simplicity here - overall, the result is a little sweet, but quite enjoyable - the nose has candi sugar, white pepper, herbs, grass, pear esters - flavor starts off a little syrupy/sweet, but the yeast kicks in and balances things out decently - spice/pepper, herbal and grassy hops, esters of apple and pear - finish is moderately bitter and spicy.

Tap at the brewery - fairly dry, strongly bitter, but nicely balanced black ipa - a lot of green hoppiness, strong woody notes, complimented well enough by the roasty maltiness, tempered by a light touch of sweetness (vanilla) - finish is maybe a touch harsh, but this is pretty good.

Tap at the brewery - a dry, roasty, and smokey rendition of the style, with a light cream.sweetness and notes of berries to balance - some notes of tobacco, perhaps a little astringent bitterness from the black malts, but still a solid effort.

Tap at the brewery - interesting take on blonde ale - moderate biscuity.malt and a lot fruitiness in the form of melon rind and citrus - there is some slight vegetal character, corn flavor that detracts from the enjoyment - the rye addsa slight spiciness - not something I’d order again.

On tap @ the Æ brewery. Pours a hazy, bright yellow orange appearance with an off white head that looks fabulous. Hint of butter in the nose with some orange citrus and apricot. Medium light body. Kind of heavy booze. Some more butter and harsh bitterness in the mouth. A touch goopy. Nice citrus fruits. Flawed but shows promise.
