Description
The brewery is still a small family run operation and currently employs over 20 people. The business was set up by Shane and Alison Parr, with lots of help from Iain and Anne Reid (Alison’s parents) and Innes Reid (Alison’s brother), but we survive and thrive on the great crew we have working with us.

Our brewing plant capacity has been upgraded over the years and now is now 100 brewer’s barrels (28,800 pints) per week, which allows us to meet demand during peak periods. In 2013 we constructed a purpose built, energy efficient brew house, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our environmental impact by saving water and energy.

500ml bottle from Wrekin Whiskies, Shrewsbury: BB 20th July 2024. Poured into a vase shaped UK pint glass at home during a mini tasting session with myself on 8th February 2024, this is the second beer of the evening. Light golden body, snow white blanket of smooth foam atop. Lemon/citrusy front to the nose and taste. Highly carbonated it's a bit 'fizzy' and 'lively', let's say 'vibrant' and be happy with that. Slight herbal/grassy twist in the flavour, but it's mostly a citrussy brew.

Cask @ Stonehouse Brewery. Deep golden look in the glass, white head. Caramelised Vienna malt aroma, continuing to taste. Nicely fresh with smooth malty character, medium to light bodied, gentle floral shades, not hugely flavoursome but pintworthy all the same.

Cask @ the brewery. Pours a hazed yellow, white head. Aroma is fruity sweet, exotic. Lovely Nelson Sauvin influence to taste, fruity sweet pineapple & gooseberry notes to the fore, moderate carbonation. Really nice.

500ml bottle from Chester Beer and Wine. Clear golden colour, sparkling with a foamy white head that dissipates and aroma of ripe apple, caramel note. Taste is sweet, tangy, apple, green apple, with core & skin, sugary, a caramel hint and alittle acidity. Medium bodied, foamy carbonation, sweet & acidic finish. OK, quite sweet.

Keg half-pint in the Boot on Sunday 28th January 2024. Bertie and I decided to take a walk into town as it was dry and not too cold. Clear and clean golden pour, short lived white head. Easy going piney and citrussy hop feel to this, a slightly dry and bitter finish.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Armoury, Shrewsbury on 24th January 2024. Very Pale golden blonde, white crown. Slightly disappointing really, expected a spicy, wintery brew; this is a delicate Snow Flake sort of beer, subtle citrus fruits running through it but no winter vibes.

Cask @ Cromwell's Tap House. Pours a generally clear gold, white head. Aroma of weedy grapefruit, passionfruit. Decent Olicana expressions though mango and passionfruit notes are quite low, with an illusion of winter spice in the distance. Not bad.

500ml bottle from Stonehouse Brewery. Pours pitch black with a thin ring of tan foam. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee roast. Medium bodied, flavour profile is of an especially good roasty porter (stout?), coffee hints, nice dark malt shades, good balance with some bitter dark chocolate notes. Lovely stuff.

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Boot on 18th December 2023, Pre-Christmas Gathering beers. Clean and clear golden blonde, white crown. Nothing Christmassy about it, or orange marmalade either, it's a pleasant enough blend of bittering hops and light maltiness though.
