Description
Up Front Brewing was founded in 2015 with the aim of sharing our love of exceptional beers and great artwork, with a wider audience.

Here at Up Front we have no loans, no investors, and no kickstarter funding - everything is paid for up front. We brew by renting space in other people’s breweries, with each batch paid for as it’s brewed.

We have very little in the way of overheads, which allows us to spend a considerable amount of time and effort into researching and experimenting with new yeast, bacteria, ingredients, and brewing techniques from around the world. We brew mostly out of 71 Brewing in Dundee, but also use other breweries as and when required.

Up Front has used both Drygate and Alechemy as a base.

Can from Margiotta. Hazy golden body with a short-lived white head. Steady carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of sea salt, passionfruit and lime. Flavour of lemon, lime and pink grapefruit. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Very fizzy. A tart, refreshing beer. This would be great on a hot summer’s day.

Can from Cork & Cask. Appearance - murky pinky-orange. Beige head that quickly disappears. Nose - big ripe raspberries up front, even into wild strawberry. Fresher than expected as don't get whisky barrel at all. However, there is a fudge or caramel thing at the back. Taste - oh, funny sweet whisky note then wood and raspberries. Palate - sweet and creamy with then the tart note smashing through. Long linger. Overall - lovely stuff.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Appearance - murky yellow with a fluffy white head that fizzes for a couple of minutes and then disappears. Nose - big lemons and their waxy. Salt, sheep wool and funky wood lurking. Taste - initial sweet note of the clementine, then into lemon pith and zest. All the while, funk and wood lurking in the background. Palate - medium bodied, funky and tangy middle with a dry and woody finish. Tremendous persistent finish. Overall - lovely stuff. Unlike some ''sour'' beers, the base is definitely sour and not just coming from the fruit.
