Description
NorthDown brew award winning beers with a focus on hop forward modern ales, producing a variety of beers spanning cask perfect best bitters, modern hazy pale ales and flavour forward IPAs.

Founded in 2018 by Husband & Wife duo Jonny & Katie Spanjar who were drawn to Margate for its coastal vibes, embracing community and bountiful history. Their hard work truly paid off with recent industry gongs for their two most loved beers - The ‘Taste of Kent Awards’ taking home Best Kent Beer 2020 for ‘Pale Ale Mary’ Pale Ale and winning praise from the cask ale aficionados CAMRA with a medal for ‘Merry Margate’ Golden Session Ale in the Kent CAMRA festival 2019.

Cask gravity at Thomas Tallis Canterbury. Hazy amber colour no head. A little sweet in the malt. Orange tangerine flavours. light bitterness. Some candied citrus peel. Some yeast on the aroma. decent spicy bitterness on the finish. ok . 6.4 re rate Cask handpull at The County Hotel JDW Ashford. Slight haze gold. Lasting white head. Some citrus flavours some dryness on the finish. No huge aroma. 3.2 is about right more 6.3

Cask gravity at Made in Ashford. Hazy rich amber brown colour lasting bubbly beige head. Malty bitter. Biscuit aroma. Some sharp hops on the finish. A very English biscuit hippy bitter. Fine.

Cask gravity at Made In Ashford. Clear amber coloured lasting white head. Some fruit salad aroma . Actually I grew to like it a bit more. Some fruit salad some peach cherry. Some decent bitterness. Decent temperature. Decent.

ABV: 4.8%. Clear medium yellow orange yellow colour with a small, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity malt, pale malt, fruity, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops, orange, peach. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity malt, fruity hops, sweet malt, sweet fruit, fruity, pale malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20181019]

Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, pale malt, fruity malt, nutty notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light light heavy bitter with a long duration, fruity hops, pale malt, sweet malt, sharp hops bitter, light earthy. 17/10/2018. Cask at the Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival 2018, Nottingham. Pours pale amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of hops, malt and fruit,. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Didn't seem particularly fresh.
