Cask at Flowerpot, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s a gentle aroma of ginger and vanilla. In the mouth it has a creamy texture with slight bitterness. Flavours are a massive hit of spices, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, liquorice, rasisins, fruitcake and hints of vanilla. Finish is boozy and very spicy with a little bitterness. This is rather nice.

Cask at Furnace, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s coconut in the aroma, and this is there again in the mouth to start off with, alongside coffee and raisins. After a whilte vanilla and dates comes to the fore, and later this liquorice is the dominant feature. It’s nice enough, but a bit of a gimmick – not really much stout characteristic at all.

Cask at The Kentish Belle, Bexleyheath. Cloudy gold pour with a white head. Mango, pineapple, peach and sweet citrus aromas. Taste is tangerine, peach, mango, touch of apricot. Summer fruits in abundance just as the first rays of spring cascade through the window. Should've been a (very bad) poet me.

Half-pint, draught at Thomas Tallis Alehouse. Shared with Finn. Decent white head over a cloudy, grey-golden body, lacing rings down the glass. Moderate floral fruity aromas. Citrus flavoured, lemon and orange, grainy malts beneath. Soft fruity finish. Satisfying. (Canterbury 11.02.2023).

440ml can shared with Martin @ Tap and Can. Dark pour, good frothy tan head. Smooth palate with chocolate coming to the fore, mild caramel up the rear. Not quite bringing to mind a daim bar, caramel could be more prominent, but still a nice stout with a measured sweetness. Would've went well with Pantera.
