Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Clear gold with a thin white head. Its quite tangy, some toastiness to the grains, yeasty with stone fruit esters, sweet resinous note in the finish. Light to medium bodied. Its a bit strange.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma isnβt the strongest β just traces of floral ops, oranges and biscuits. In the mouth the floral hops are much more pronounced, alongside tangerines and hints of brazil nuts and summer fruits. Slightly sweet at first, but some bitterness soon comes through to balance. Finish is dry and slightly sweet. This is a decent restrained pale ale with unexpected fruitiness.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Thereβs biscuits and citrus in the aroma β plus a hint of rhubarb. In the mouth it is sharp and zesty with lemon and citrus to the fore, plus hints of melon and grapefruit. Later on there are peppery traces too. Finish is sharp and slightly sticky. This is OK, but really not my sort of beer at all.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a medium sized white head and good lacing. Thereβs continental hops in the aroma, but not to any great extent. In the mouth the hops turn fruitier and there is a creamy texture. Some grains and tangerines to start with as well, but eventually it all becomes more bitter and hoppy. Finish is dry and bitter. This is really very nice β what an IPA should taste like.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a dark brownish ruby with a small cream head and some lacing. An odd somination of vanilla and strawberries in the aroma β with just a hint of plums. In the mouth damsons and plums features strongly along with roast malts. After a while it gets even fruities with raspberries and traces of vanilla and chocolate. Finish is fruity too. This is rather nice.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours a golden amber with minimal white head but good lacing. Not much of an aroma, just vague hints of marmalade. In the mouth it has a creamy texture, and the main flavour is oranges, plus some floral hops and traces of nuts. The finish is a not unpleasant stickiness on the tongue. Jury is out on thisne β itβs a bit strange.
