Description
Established in 2017 in the most Eastern point of mainland Scotland, we brew our beers in small batches in the nautical town of Peterhead. At Brew Toon we are passionate about creating bold, adventurous craft beers, packed full of flavour and character. We strive to use local ingredients where ever possible and pride ourselves on this provenance.

Brew Toon was born out of a passion for brewing and craftsmanship in general.

Our brewery is based on a historic site in Peterhead, which was once home to "Hunter & Sons - Tanfield Brewery". This heritage is hugely important to us and massively influential in how we run our brewery today.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - hazy yellow to orange. Thin white head. Nose - intense lemon, lemon pith and struck match. Taste - very lemony. Lemon pith and creamy lemon cake. Palate - close to medium bodied, tangy and zingy dry finish. Overall - the nose was offputting but a much better palate.

Can from Great Grog. Hazy golden body with a few flecks floating beneath a white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pear skin and raw potato. Flavour of melon rind, metal and bitter, grassy hops. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. Not sweet and fruity enough for me, which it should be for the style and the fact Idaho 7 is used. This isn’t great.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - like breakfast juice. Bright and cloudy orange. Thin off-white head. Nose - dank and yeasty. Deep mango and orange aromas. Taste - sweet, sweet mango and then orange zest. Palate - medium bodied, creamy texture and sweet-ish finish. Overall - a bit over the top on the mango, but that's what it's supposed to be.

Can from Cork & Cask. Black body with a beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of cherry and dark chocolate. Flavour of cranberry and plum. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A complex malt bill with a nice tartness. It’s nice to try a black forest style beer that doesn’t use lactose.

Keg at BD at BD Inverurie. It pours oily dark brown to black, opaque and limited head. The aroma is sweet, rich, unctuous, decadent, oily, caramel, toffee crisp, vanilla, milky strong coffee, caramel latte, maltesers, charred, rich roasted malt and a touch of umami. The taste is slick, oily, toothy, chewy, woody, umami, rich chocolate cake, caramel drizzle, creamy, milky coffee, toffee crisp, crunchie, warming booze, peppery spice, charred oak, light tannin and burnt toast with a toffee crisp finish. Fulsome body and fine carbonation. Pretty sweet and Decadent, but the boozy kick and big coffee vibes keeps it in check. Fun stuff.
