Bottle from the rather good village shop in Beadnell, Northumberland. The friendly lady running the shop said her husband loved this beer but warned me that every one he'd had had been a bit of a gusher. Mine was certainly lively but I managed to contain it's enthusiasm in a pint glass. It was dark brown with a large tan head. It tasted of blackcurrants, charcoal, chocolate, burnt malt, peppercorns and cinnamon, with dry wood in the finish. Thought it was too charred at first but enough sweetness came through to balance it, and by the end I thought it was rather good.

2/5/2018. Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours amber with a small lasting off-white head. Aroma of hop, malt, caramel, fruit, flowers and a hint of pine. Medium plus sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, very soft carbonation. Sweet biscuity finish with some increasing bitterness and a nutty edge. Didn't hugely appeal at start but was real grower. Favourite of the four I've had from this brewery so far.
