Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Tap @ DDDH, small sample. Probably a fresh recent batch, cause I got a lot of grapefruit and citrus, soft peppery spices. Quite bitter in taste with a spicy bite in the end. Much less saisony and a bit more IPA-like, but with a peppery twist to it. Much better balanced and refreshing. Very likeable. Tap @ several places. Hazy golden color, short head. Aroma of belgian yeast esters, bit spicy from pepper, some soft fruity hop. Bit sweet in taste, some bitterness, medium dry. All in all a very decent beer, but it has never caught me. 3.5

33 cl bottle (bought @ Food Film Festival from the Oedipus crew). Red copper color, hazy. Small off-white head. Aroma’s of pine & resin, sour/tropical fruit, with malty notes retronasal. Flavor is rather bitter, a bit acidic, with a light malty touch. Warming alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Long bitter finish. Pretty neat.

33cl Bottle, thanks Manon! Muddy orange-amber colour, thin white head. Aroma of loads of spices, cardamon, lemongrass, rosemary, ginger, nutty yeast. Flavour is sweet, spicy, lots of cardamon and lemongrass, light malty, hint of dead yeast/plastic, mint-like sensation from all spices, light bitter finish, a touch of (chili) heat, yeast. Light to medium-bodied. I usually dig spicy beers, but this is a bit over the top imo.

On tap at Arendsnest. Slightly hazy amber orange colour, white head. Aroma of grass, weed, cabbage, strong hops, light caramel. Flavour is just light malty, light caramel, mostly bitter hops, with light citrus, and mainly cabbage and weed, firm bitter finish with a little sugar. Medium-bodied. Simple and not really to my taste.
