Like Edinburgh we’re creative, inventive and outward-looking. We combine old and new ideas and techniques to create beers of beauty.
Inspired by the Edinburgh-born ‘Father of Pop Art’ Eduardo Paolozzi, we showcase the art of brewing. Paolozzi took everyday objects and transformed them into works of art; we take overlooked and underestimated beer styles and present them at their beautiful best.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - black and opaque. Attractive fawn head. Nose - molasses and dark but sweet chocolate. Taste - molasses and an edge of liquorice. Roasty too. Palate -medium bodied and roasty dry finish. Overall - stout by numbers though many at the same price are more generous.

500ml can. Pours a clear gold with a small, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Mild aroma of grainy malt, honey and grassy hops. Sweet flavour of grainy malt, honey and red apple in a crisp, dry, mild bitter, grassy hop finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Clean, refreshing and easy to drink.

Bottled 330ml (KCM Puuvilla)
Golden colour, small white head. Green apple, banana and light smoke in the nose. Light-bodied, watery. Smoke is quite weak in the flavour. Some banana, quite bitter flavour. Kind of strange Weissbier span.

Can picked up at lidl Inverurie. It pours opaque black with a smallish frothy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, liquorice, decadent, chocolate cake, cake frosting, coffee, cola and fruit cake. The taste is dry, earthy bitter roast, pretty bitter, umami, ashy char, cacao nibs, coffee grounds, some peppery spice, with a bitter roast linger through the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Really nice aroma. Tastes like a dry stout. Not bad, especially for this price point.

330ml bottle: Drank at home on 2nd Jun 2020, during the virus Lock In. Obtained from a local Dobbies Garden centre. Golden/bronze body, clear and clean, white crown that became a wisp and collar after two sips. I prefer the maltier, sweeter Helles and this fits into that category well.
