Description
The Edinburgh Beer Factory is a family run, independent brewery launched in 2015 to make people think again about beer and Scotland. Founded by the Dunsmore family, we’ve grown to great big family of 20+ team members.

Like Edinburgh we’re creative, inventive and outward-looking. We combine old and new ideas and techniques to create beers of beauty.

Inspired by the Edinburgh-born ‘Father of Pop Art’ Eduardo Paolozzi, we showcase the art of brewing. Paolozzi took everyday objects and transformed them into works of art; we take overlooked and underestimated beer styles and present them at their beautiful best.

330ml bottle: Drank at home on 2nd Jun 2020, during the virus Lock In. Obtained from a local Dobbies Garden centre. Golden/bronze body, clear and clean, white crown that became a wisp and collar after two sips. I prefer the maltier, sweeter Helles and this fits into that category well.

Large tight white head stayed on a translucent pale golden still body. Punchy Roma with confectionery. Medium bodied, sharp & overly gassy. Almost sour on the front with under ripe fruit, confectionery & bitter stone fruit followed by pig finish. I just can't drink smoked.

Appearance is clear golden, with an enormous head which gradually settles. Aroma is wheaty malt, banana, cloves, hints of orange and spice. Taste is peppery, lemon hints, lots of peaty smokiness, spicy hoppy orange, zesty fizzy fruit. Lots of peat smoke on the end.

Bottle from Aldi Inverurie. It pours ckeat golden - amber with a dissipating white head. The aroma is bready, cereal, toasty grain, banana loaf, light spice, hint of berry and some nutty vibes. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, green banana, chalky, cereal, spice, grassy, hay, orange peel, metallic twang and not a lot of obvious cherry character to it to be honest (touch of cranberry maybe?). Dryish finish. Average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Decent enough, but not much cherry character to it. Not bad.

The taste is dry, some grassy bitterness, pithy citrus, floral, soapy, some harshness, icing sugar, rich tea biscuit, pear drops with a longer spicy - bitter finish. Average body and moderate, foamy carbonation. A bit harsh in place. Fair.
