Bottle shared during the first Late Nite session of RBWG 2015. Pours Deep brown with a frothy tan head. Simple milk chocolate on the nose, some pine. Medium sweet flavor with pleasant toasted pine, light cleansing minerals, chocolate candies. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish, some further toasted pine, lightly bittersweet chocolate. Tasty stuff overall.

Growler and sample from the brewery today. Solid black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of coffee and roasted grains dominate with a bit of bitter chocolate and touches of caramel and vanilla to counter. Light alcohol nose especially as she warms, touches of pitted fruits and burnt sugar round out the nose. Creamy smooth mouthfeel that shows a touch of sweetness. Velvety chocolate flavor up front segues into light coffee and roasted grains. Caramel, molasses, and a creamy light vanilla come through next before a touch of alcohol warmth, earthy hop, and bitter roast finishes us off. Thick body with a light level of carbonation. Big thick rich tasty stout right there, I’m going to have to pick up a couple of bottles when they come out.

On tap-tan-dk brown. A-roasty. As it warms, chocolate/some molasses/roasty-dk malt, slight hop bite. T-follows with the hops being a bit more pronounced.

Bottle from a Lazy Dog Pours a solid black with a huge fluffy tan head that shows remarkable retention and lace. The aroma is heavy on the coffee and roasted malts with bits of earth, toffee, and caramel. The flavor is creamed coffee, caramel and some butterscotch, light earthy flavors with a touch of pitted fruit round us out. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Decent brew, a bit more roast than chocolate for me and slight diacytyl keep me from giving this higher marks.
