About
Whin Hill Norfolk Cider began in a small way in 1993 with friends Jim Fergusson and Pete Lynn making cider from spare apples from the garden and what could be begged from friends and acquaintances. Initially, all cider not drunk by themselves was sold to local pubs.
In 1997 Jim and Pete purchased a beautiful old 18th century barn and outbuildings just off the main car park in Wells-next-the-Sea to be used as a ciderworks production facility and a shop from which to sell the cider. A licence was obtained allowing Jim and Pete to supply almost their entire production direct to customers directly from the shop.
For 18 years, Jim and Pete grew Whin Hill Norfolk Cider from a seed of an idea into a thriving, popular, local business with a loyal customer base who know exactly what to expect from the cider, perry, apple juice and other beverages produced at their ciderworks.
Jim and Pete both retired in April 2012 and passed the reins over to Mark and Lisa Jarvis who intend to run the business with the same emphasis on quality and service our customers have always experienced. With time, Mark and Lisa aim to bring innovation and expansion to secure the future of Whin Hill Norfolk Ciderworks for future generations.

4/9/2019. From bag in a box at the 33rd Chappel Summer Beer Festival. Pours pale gold with a slight peachy tint and a small bubbly white head. Aroma of pears, citrus, quite heavy tannins. Medium sweetness and moderate tartness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Dry, tart, acidic finish. Nice.

Bag in Box at GBBF. It pours clear very pale straw yellow with no head. The aroma is sweet, oily, bit of tomato ketchup, tangy, vinegar and tangy toms. The taste is sweet, tangy apple, sweet tomato ketchup, apple pie, icing sugar, apple skin and dull tannin. Medium body and oily mouth feel. A bit of a mixed bag....

BIAB at Station House, Durham. Golden colour, afew bubbles on top and sweet fleshy apple aroma. Taste is cooked apple, sweetish, honey, caramel & vanilla, drying. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, semi-dry tangy finish. Quite OK.

Pours a clear rose pink colour with not even a hint of a head. A soft scented apple peel aroma. Quite sweet, light tart apple flavours and a light dryness in the finish. It's okay.
