Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch CEA001/17 (BBF 10/2018). AROMA: medium notes of spices (nutmeg, ginger), slightly peppery alcohol and faint pumpkin background. APPEARANCE: orange-ish ambar color and hazy. medium ivory head with medium retention. TASTE: initial medium-low notes of ginger and nutmeg, followed by a low pumpkin background. medium-low bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a good try at a pumpkin ale but requires a bit more balance between spices and pumpkin flavor.

33cl Bottle from House of Wonders restaurant, Cascais. Murky golden yellow colour, enormous white head. Aroma of spices, ginger, lots of coriander seed, lemon, hint of smoked wheat. Flavour follows, light lemony tartness, very spicy, not much smoke. Light bodied. OK stuff.

33cl Bottle from Catraio. Hazy orange colour, off-white head. Aroma of bitter oranges, marmalade, yeasty. Flavour is fruity, orange, marmalade, light yeasty, papaya, light soapy, decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not very clean, but tasty nonetheless.

Tap. Tasted on the 12/06/2017 at Letraria Craft Beer Garden (Porto). Very light golden colour with a minimal white head. Aroma of citrics, ginger and smoke. Taste is intense citric with a metal and smoke background. Next one please!

AROMA: medium malt notes (wheat, slightly sweet) with low notes of citrus (oranges and slightly lemony). slight yeasty background. APPEARANCE: light gold color and clear. very large white head, creamy, with good retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with notes of wheat, yeast, slightly citrus (lemony). medium-low to low bitterness. semi-dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body with high carbonation. OVERALL: a smoked witbier with no smoke notes perceptible and with a bit yeasty presence.

Aroma has kind of a pear thing going on. No idea how that gelds with smoked wit but whatevs. Maybe cider. Either way kinda sweet for wit. Has lots of carbonation and fast disappearing head on a slightly foggy body. Flavour is weak lemon notes with hints of wheat. Okay on the mouth. This is an odd one and not at all what I expcted. No indication of smoked flavour, possibly barely a witbier. Still I’ll finish the bottle.

AROMA: medium hop aroma with a floral component, resin, dried grass. medium-low malt background with a slight caramelly character. faint sulphur that fades. APPEARANCE: light amber color and clear. medium-low ivory head with good retention. TASTE: initial medium hop flavor with a floral-like character (similar to lychee), slight stone fruit. medium-low malt notes with a toffee character. medium-high to high bitterness with a semi-dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium body with a slight texture. medium carbonation. OVERALL: an odd hop aroma for an american IPA. ok nonetheless.
