Description
First brewed April 2011 based at Top Lodge, Eridge Road, Groombridge, Tunbridge Wells. A 2½BBL plant was used. In Summer 2014 the brewery was taken over and relocated to Framfield. The brewery ceased trading in Spring 2017 and the site was taken over by Abyss Brewing.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2016, Great [ British Beer Festival 2016 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Black Cat Hopsmack ].Light unclear medium yellow colour with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, fruity malt, moderate hoppy, fruity hops, light citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, fruity malt, fruity hops, citrus notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20160809] 6-3-6-3-12

Cask (gravity) @ [ EBF21 2015 ], 21th Egham Beer Festival, Egham United Services Club (EUSC), 111 Spring Rise, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 9PE. [ As Black Cat Nine Tails ].Clear dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, fruity, light roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average duration, roasted - toasted, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Gravicask, third at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. A fawn-coloured head, deep rosewood body. Fair lacing. Prominent smell of dark dough and dried fruits. Mid-sweet malt-fruity flavours, earthy malts and ripe fruits. Roasted, semi-dry malty end. Fine bodied. Among the best on the first day of the festival (15.02.2017).

Cask at the 2017 Chelmsford & Mid Essex Winter Beer Festival. Pours mahogany brown with a small beige head. Aroma of very light malt, fruit and chocolate. Medium sweetness with medium bitterness. Medium body and slightly oily texture. Carbonation is average. Dry, bitter and sightly harsh finish.

Cask at GBBF 2016. Day 1. Pours clear yellow with a foamy, white head. The nose holds damp dough, light lemon rind. Light sweet flavour with notes of pale grains, more dough. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with moderate bitterness, more pale grains, hay. Basic, but OK.

9th August 2016
GBBF Day 1. Cask. Hazy gold beer, a few white bubbles for a head. Palate is light, semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Nice combo of floralness and limey lemon citrus. Trace of tangerine. Light finish. Bright and breezy if a tad dry.
