Description
A couple of Yorkshiremen, a Geordie, and a Columbian drug lord walk into a bar, share some pretty underwhelming pints, and decide they can do better. And thus it was that Fortnight Brewing Company was born.

Ok, so maybe there wasn’t a drug lord involved, but he was Columbian. And at least we have your attention now…

Anyway, Fortnight Brewing Company really was the brainchild of two friends from Yorkshire and a Columbian. (The Geordie came a bit later.) Work brought the Brits to the States, but it unfortunately didn’t bring along with them any of the classic English beer they enjoyed back home, not to mention that iconic British pub. So, like any hardworking (and headed) Yorkshiremen would do, they built it in their new backyard. Take one step into our taproom, with its rich mahogany, aristocratic portraiture, and loquacious regulars, you’ll be singing “God Save the Queen” in no time.

But no amount of tasteful décor and perfectly executed cask ale can change the fact that this is still America. We like our beer like we like our men: eclectic. (What did you think I was going to say?!)

Rest assured, America, we’ve got you covered. Sure, you can pop into the pub for an imperial pint of the finest English porter this side of the pond, but you can also follow that up with an American IPA that would make George Washington blush. Or a kombucha ale. Or a kettle soured ale. Or a barrel aged ale. Or a crisp, clean lager. Or a pastry stout that will actually make you believe you’re drinking dessert. We’re British; we’re not one trick ponies. Cheers!

Top notch english strong. Round malty, clean and strong. Not astringent. Beer temple (3.8 may 2022) Again at beer temple a 2019 version. I think it just had bad days in the basement here and became caramel and thin

1.50$ can purchased from total wine in cary. First taste is somewhat hoppy IPA and after it sits for a while in the pie hole, it gets a little bit of this astringent sharp bitter bite to it. Fer sher this beer is a little more orange and less brown than most domestic red ales or irish reds. Nice head tho. Creamy and shit. In the middle it gets a little more difficult to drink, turns to stronger boozy stuff. Oh, almost becomes annoying near the finish. Olfactory is a somewhat interesting malty higher alky volatile nose. There you have it, ending is not pleasant from a lager lover's point of view. Just go ask anybody on webster street, they'll tell you about a lack of civility!

Got the $2 can from total wine in cary, nice place. Looks like any other clear pale lager, lots of exciting carbonation bubbling around in there. Taste is like many pale lagers with a tad more bitterness than most. Some immature astringent bite in there lurking around. Easy drinking noble hops, I think. Yet in the end, that astringent bite seems to keep poking its head up. Not bad overall. It really does come across like an old country euro lager.

2 month old can A: Poured clear tawny gold with a light swirl of sediment and a thick pad of long lasting dark beige foam. S: Largely sweet, malty scent but a bit of orange citrus cuts through the caramel. T: Follows the nose but the orange zest, pith and pulp are more pronounced and almost balance the caramel and toast. M: Medium full body with lowish carbonation and a sticky finish. O: More like cascade hopped English IPA than citra or mosaic but Fortnight is known for English styles, so typical and tasty, but sweet.

Piney, resinous, citrusy, minimally perfumed, hoppy, and pale and caramel malty aroma, notes of spruce, pine, lemon, some grapefruit, a touch of peanut. Taste is crisp, citrusy and bitter, slightly piney hoppy, pale and caramel malty basis with little residual sweetness, notes of lemon, grapefruit, hints of spruce, pine, a touch of resin. Slightly overcarbonated. Very crisp, refreshing - fine stuff!

From can at Bierfestival Wolvega. Aroma is citrus, lemon, and margarita flavours with a disturbing aftertaste reminding of burned plastic and manure. Tart, light sweet, light to medium body. Ouch... Ruined by burnt rubber/plastic aftertaste.

Vintage 2018. Slightly hazy amber brown colour, small fizzy off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, molasses, sugar syrup, alcohol. Prickly mouthfeel, flavour light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, raisins, sugar syrup. Full-bodied, sticky texture, flat carbonation, slightly roasted sweet maltbitter finish, burnt sugar, spicy notes, boozy, whole feel not too heavy, good.
