Description
It’s been said that a vagabond is a wanderer, a nomad with no home. In our case, three American vagabonds found their way to Germany with a shared passion for one thing: beer! Having grown tired of the limited selection and homogeneous taste of domestic beer, the Vagabunds banded together to challenge preconceived notions of what beer should look and taste like. And so, Vagabund Brauerei was born.

24th Jan 2016: draught at the brewpub in Wedding, Berlin. As the name might suggest, this is a golden bodied beer, the head a thin white foam covering. Woody feel to the brew, not sure if it in fact oak aged or kept in oak barrels but it had that sort of taste and aroma associated with such things. Decent blend of bittering hops and light malty sweetness, but no real flavouring stood out except that woody trace/hint.

24th Jan 2016: draught at the source. Misty golden pour, wispy head. Oranges lead the way in this fruity smelling and flavoured beer. Alcohol not hidden too well, but a pleasant beer all the same. Rough around the edges, it suited the brewpub and the décor right to the ground.

24th Jan 2016: draught at the source (5.2% ABV on the day). Copper bronze with a full white head. Hops rule both the nose and taste, semi-bitter citrus fruits define the flavour, grapefruit being the dominant taste for me.

Apr ’15. On tap at the brewpub, spelled as "Double IPA" on the blackboard. It poured hazy amber body with medium sized white head. Tropical fruit and citrus hoppy aroma with lightly distracting stale note. Fine bittersweet flavor - fruity hop bitterness well balanced with caramel and biscuit malt. Medium bodied with a longer, predominately hop finish, herbal and citrus touched with cardboard. Absolutely fine, although I expected more of it.

Apr ’15. On tap at the brewpub. It poured hazy darker copper colored body with a medium sized head. Strong clearly cascade aroma, citrus fruits, especially grapefruit. Flavor was lightly bitter and not so prominent as aroma. Very lightly malted with fine subtle biscuit malt. Quite thin bodied with a bit watery and rather short finish. Alright, I guess they wanted to show and pronounce the hop potential.
