Look: opaque deep brown to black with a moderate ivory-coloured head of low retention. Aroma: dark malts, esters, cocoa, vinous notes, light alcohol. Taste: rather dry, dark malts, cocoa, esters, vinous notes, smoked hints, hop. Warming alcohol. Light to medium bitterness. Palate: medium body, average carbonation. Overall: not a champion among imperial stouts still a pleasant option nowadays when everything is sweet and flavoured.

Look: cloudy bright yellow to orange with a large well lacing white head. Nose: fairly tropical with dominant passion fruit and lychee, catty, dank, light hop burn. Taste: moderately sweet, fruity, malty. mostly citrus, additional tropical fruit, medium to strong hop grapefruit bitterness. Palate: medium plus body, soft to average carbonation, soft texture. Overall: very close to what I would call a favourite New England IPA of mine.
