Description
Old Worthy Brewery is the project of Nick Ravenhall on the Isle of Skye which started in 2012. The label's name comes from 'local worthies', Islay distillery men legendary for their hard work and their production of fine Islay single malt whiskies. Beers were initially brewed under contract by Isle of Skye but have mostly been brewed at Broughton.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma, hints of oat, dark chocolate, a salty touch of oysters. Taste is roasty dark malty, slightly salty, subtle sweetness, hints of dark chocolate, cocoa, sea salt; dry, almost dusty finish.

330ml bottle. Deep ruby red colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of dark berries, blueberry, a touch of bramble, Taste is fruity hoppy, notes of red and dark berries, blueberry ice cream, blueberry yoghurt.

Slightly hazy orange-amber color, small steady white head. Light fruity nose with notes of sweetish whisky with vanilla. Light to medium-bodied. Pale malty, some caramel, marmalade, whisky, some spicey hoppyness. Drinkable, wheatyish simple ale.

330ml bottle from Master of Malt. Deep amber colour with a creamy off-white foam head leaving lacing. Bready aroma with some fruity notes. Taste is sweetish, bready malt, banana fruity, yeasty, and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

330ml bottle from Master of Malt. Amber colour with a white foam head leaving lacing. Aroma of malt, fruity. Taste is malty, orange & grapefruit citrus, whisky, earthy, spice with some bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Keg at at Cloisters. It pours darkest red - brown with a decent white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, red berry, jammy, toasty, Victoria sponge and earth. The taste is bitter - sweet, jammy red fruits, charred wood, peppery spice, citrus peel, tar with a slight burnt notes with a dry, charred finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Bottled@PBF XI. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some toffee, herbs and slight chocolaty and toasted notes. Flavour is floral, some tobacco and mild chocolaty and toffeeish notes. Toasted and floral aftertaste.
