Description
Old Worthy Brewery is the project of Nick Ravenhall on the Isle of Skye which started in 2012. The label's name comes from 'local worthies', Islay distillery men legendary for their hard work and their production of fine Islay single malt whiskies. Beers were initially brewed under contract by Isle of Skye but have mostly been brewed at Broughton.

Cask at the AG Bell. Pours clear gold, thin white head. Aromas of wood, light acetic notes, light caramel, vanilla. Taste is boozy, woody, light sweet, bourbon. Boozy finish. Nice. Old worthy certainly seem to have upped their game recently.

Bottle from Drinkmonger. Clear amber body with a medium off-white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of toffee apple, steel, copper penny and rust... Not great. Flavour of metal, tea and bitter green apple. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. All I’m getting with this is metal.

Clear amber pint with a thick white head. Not much aroma. Sweet fruity taste. The malt and hop does come through but almost as an afterthought. It’s a sipper but not one I’d rush back to.
