Description
We are Boutilliers, a small brewery based around the back of a farm shop in Faversham (Macknade fine foods if you were the curious sort.) Originally founded by 2 former uni buds, Boutilliers is now run by Rich, a former english teacher, and Drew, professional loud mouth. Our core focus is to brew creative styles and innovate with the resources we have to hand. When possible we like to use produce from local companies including tea and hops but we’ve not limited ourselves to this philosophy. Beer is an infinitely sprawling landscape with an equal number of potential possibilities, we don’t wish to simply make the same beer every time we brew, we want to explore, we want to play, we want our beer to be fun.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 17D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 1 (BBF XMAS 2041). AROMA: medium-high lacqer/solvent with a slight yeasty background. meidum-low vinous faint sweet malt background with imperceptible notes. APPEARANCE: ambar color with material in suspension. very thin ivoy head with low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-high solvent alcohol notes with slight vinous character. low yeast, slight dried grapes. medium-low bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium body with low carbonation. slightly harsh. OVERALL: a barleywine with harsh alcohol presence and yeast, maybe due to incorrect strain selection.
