A decent Double, but not very good in my opinion. The Tripel is much, much better, but Hertog Jan still makes fantastic beers, so dont be disappointed about my rating :-)

No notes last time, but I believe I have not had this beer since it was owned by InBev. Tasted May 18, 2011 in Athens, purchased at my local cava, served in a gigantic wine glass. The body, which was viewed by holding it up to the light in the direction of the Acropolis, was sufficiently dark brown that I did not see that site through the liquid. The aroma, capture nicely in the glass, showed me the characteristic dark fruits, sugars and light alcohol that one might expect from an abbey ale. The body is a bit plasticy, which mutes some of the nice dark sugars, but there is still a decent raisiny fruitiness to the beer. The alcohol does not overpower, it only seems that way because I’ve had nothing but session beer for months on end. Decent - about the same as what I thought of it a dozen years ago.
